Headford Mart was busier than predicted earlier in the week with nice selection of bullocks and heifers to tempt the eager buyers. Online bids were hopping with a lot of Northern interest. There was a larger crop of heavier stock in the mix which drove the excitement in a packed Ringside as well.

In the Sheep yard, Ewes climbed slightly on last week making up to €189 per head. Store Lamb staying the same with pen of ten made €165/49Kg. and €142/42Kg.

Bullock Sample Prices included:  Lighter stock prices had increased last week and lifted further this week in Headford with LMX 453Kg €1550/€3.42Kg,  CHX 445Kg €1450/€3.26Kg. Heavier stock featured LMX 845Kg €2690/€3.18Kg,  CHX 815Kg €2500/€3.07Kg, SHX 575Kg €1530/€2.66Kg.

COW PRICES INCLUDE:  Dry cow prices climbed again this week with best cheque of the day going to Claranbridge for CH €2260. But she was followed hot on the heels by Headford LMX at €2250. Best Cow/Calf made €2400 and was for fine Kilmaine LMX. But special note must go to Carheens-man Peter Paul Morrin who is celebrating a significant birthday this week. He also got on well with his cows!

AGED HEIFERS: numbers increased this week with some fine samples from our previous award winning Daniels Farm topping the scales for his CHX. €1660 615Kg.  CHX 555Kg made €1600.  LMX 545Kg €1590.  And another stunner of LM 530Kg €1580 going to a fine Killannin Farmer. WEANLINGS: Best price here went to young farmer Seán O’Malley from Clonbur for his fine LMX bull DOB Oct21 405Kg €1330/€3.28Kg. LMX 290Kg €900/€3.10Kg.  Another LMX 245Kg sold for €980.
