The opening sale of 2020 was held today. The numbers on offer were small in the cattle section but a strong entry of sheep. Trade in the cattle section kicked off where it finished pre-Christmas with strong demand and similar prices. Quality was variable but strong demand for quality lots. Small entry of sucklers with pairs making to €1,390. Runners a strong trade with heifers making to €590 and bulls to €755. The sheep trade opened on a high and up €10/hd pre-Christmas prices for fleshed hogget’s with 52kgs making to €129 for a pen of 10. Likewise cull ewes a very strong trade and made to €124.
