Balla Mart Report....

Today the End of Month sale was held a big sale with 1100 head on offer.

Store bullocks 400kg to 500kg averaged 2.73 p/kg...While heavier bullocks 500kg + averaged 2.70p/kg. There was some fine bullocks especially the heavy continental  types and one exceptional lim weighing 900kg made E2,900.00 or 3.22 p/kg E2,000 with the weight sold by a farmer from Aughamore – Ballyhaunis that drew a clap from the crowd around the ring while another char weighing 795kg made E2,360.00 for factory export sold by a farmer from Straide – Foxford..

Heifers up to 400 kg averaged 2.66 Euro p/kg. Heifers 400kg to 500kg averaged E2.73p/kg. Heavy heifers 500+ were 2.72p/kg. There was a CHX breeding heifer weighing 605kg that made E1,720.00 or 2.84 p/kg sold by a farmer from Carnaculla – Swinford who had some smashing cattle and another lighter lim heifer born April ’21weighing 460kg that made E1,530.00 or 3.33p/kg sold by a farmer from Logaphuill - Castlebar.

The third ring as usual for the cows which started at the earlier time of 10:30am…there was a big sale with 140 dry cows and 25 springers.

Prices in the dry cows were strong with northern and other buyers bidding online. A smashing SIX born May ‘14 dry cow 980kg that made E2.470.00 or 2.52p/kg sold a farmer from Tooreen – Ballyhaunis.

In the sucklers there was a char cow born Feb ’17 with its heifer calf at foot and due again in January that went E3,020.00 from a Cashel - Tubbercurry farmer.

There was no weanlings as they are been sold on Tuesdays from now on….

The next sale will be the Special 50th Anniversary Bullock sale Saturday the 1st  of October with booking as usual on 0818-301-401 Wednesday 28th from 09:30am to 01:00pm & Booking on Thursday the 29nd for the weanling sale on Tuesday the 4th.
