Balla Mart Report....
The End of Month Continental sale was held in Balla today the 25 th a great show
with over 600 lots on offer. Bullocks 300kg to 400kg averaged 2.60p/kg. Store
bullocks 400kg to 500kg averaged 2.84 p/kg...While heavier bullocks 500kg +
averaged 2.71p/kg. A farmer from Clogher - Claremorris had a LMX bullock born
July ’20 weighing 870kg that made E2,640.00 while a lighter store born June ’21
weighing 450kg made E1,430.00 or 3.18p/kg. from a Lavally - Tuam farmer.
In the heifers this week there was some good quality lots that met with a good
clearance. Heifers up to 400 kg averaged 2.81 Euro p/kg. Heifers 400kg to 500kg
averaged E2.66p/kg. Heavy heifers 500+ were 2.75p/kg. There was a Char born
Mar ’20 weighing 680kg that made E2,000.00 or 2.94 p/kg sold by a farmer from
Errew – Castlebar and another lighter 615kg LMX that made E1,900.00 or
3.09p/kg sold by a farmer from Cloondoolagh – Kiltimagh.
The third ring was in operation for the cows and as usual numbers remain very
big and the quality today was really exceptional. A smashing BB dry cow 905kg
born Sept ’15 made E3.340.00 or 3.69p/kg from a farmer in Lissiniskea –
Ballinrobe and another BBX 835kg that made 2,570.00 or 3.08p/kg. In the
springers the best a LMX cow born Mar ‘17 with its Char bull calf at foot made
E2,150.00 sold by a farmer from Cloondoolagh - Kiltimagh. There was a smaller
show of bull weanlings. Bull weanlings 200kg to 350kg averaged 2.82p/kg. Bull
Weanlings 350kg to 450kg made 2.83p/kg. The next sale will be Saturday the 2 nd
