Balla Mart Report....
The sale was held in Balla this Saturday a very big sale twice that of year and a
great clearence. Heavy bullocks and breeding heifers made exceptional prices
while lesser stock were also selling better this week. There was a large selection
of incalf heifers this week the biggest ever and everything was sold. I would ask

400kg averaged 2.37p/kg. Store bullocks 400kg to 500kg averaged 2.36
p/kg...While heavier bullocks 500kg + averaged 2.32 p/kg. Heavy bullocks
700kg+ were still making over the E1000 with the weight due to Northern and
factory buying. A farmer from Derrycoosh – Castlebar had some really good stock
and one bullock weighing 700kg born Oct ‘19 made E1,780.00 or 2.54p/kg.
There was just over 300 heifers this week they were a better trade with some nice
quality slips that will make good cows. Heifers up to 400 kg averaged 2.33 Euro
p/kg. Heifers 400kg to 500kg averaged E2.34p/kg. While 500kg were well up and
averaged 2.46p/kg because of these quality lots. There was a smashing 555kg Lim
heifer for breeding born Jan ’20 that made E1,880.00 or 3.39 p/kg.
The third ring was in operation for the cows this Saturday with 120 dry cows put
throught the ring with only one miss and 80 sucklers on offer including special
sales of incalf heifers by Claremorris and Buncom farmers who got on very well as
did the other sellers in that category and everything got sold. Dry cow prices were
up due to the presence of Northern Ireland and Factory buyers. A 635kg CH born
June ’19 made E2,140.00 sold by a farmer from Mace - Claremorris. In the
springers some good prices were paid the best a LMX 985KG which made
E2,560.00 with its char bull calf at foot.. Weanling bulls 200 to 300kg averaged
2.65pkg while 350kg to 450kg averaged 2.35pkg. Bulls 450kg+ averaged 2.20 the
best a bull sold by a Keltimagh Rd – Balla farmer weighing 450kg that made
E1,060.00 or 2.36p/kg.

Booking for the End of Month Sale next Saturday the 27 th of November will be on
Wednesday the 24th as usual from 09:30 am to 01:00pm on 0818 301 401…. With
the weanlings been booked on Thursday the 25 th of Nov for the sale on Saturday
27 th .
