Vacancy for 2 Training and Development Officers

Macra na Feirme, the vibrant national voluntary youth organisation that promotes social, cultural and agricultural development among rural young people (17 to 35 year olds) has a vacancy for twoTraining & Development Officers: one to be based in West/Midlands and the other in North East area.

Job Profile
Title: Training & Development Officer (two positions)
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Region 1: West/Midlands to include 4/5 counties.
Region 2: North East to include 4/5 counties.
The successful candidates must be centrally based within the appointed
region.
Job description
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
To enhance the capacity of Macra na Feirme in the region by
 providing guidance & support to Club and County Officers to ensure
they have balanced well planned programmes.
 encouraging all counties, clubs, officers and members to be active and
to participate in all Macra programmes, competitions, training events
and award schemes as appropriate.
 Support the career development of young farmers and rural young
people through various training and development programmes.
 facilitating the establishment and growth of new Macra Clubs
 promoting Macra in the region by effective use of PR in the print &
broadcast media in association with club & county PRO
 delivering specific training programmes to members and club and
county officers over 3-4 weekends throughout the year.
 Maintain strong links with existing sponsors and associates.Standards:
 Increase the level of affiliations in the region – membership numbers
and numbers of clubs.
 Ensure a high level of participation in Macra activities at Club, County
and National level.
 Facilitate the development of leaders (numbers and quality) within
Macra
 Maintain active Young Farmer Development Groups in each county.
 Enhance the profile of Macra amongst prospective member groups.
Person specification
Competencies and attributes:

possess the initiative and drive to work on own
possess a comprehensive understanding of Irish agriculture and rural
affairs.
be an effective communicator
possess strong organisational abilities
possess the ability to deliver an excellent support service to young
people
be conscientious and thorough in work
training delivery experience desirable but not essential
As the majority of Macra na Feirme activities take place at evening time and
at weekends, a significant proportion of the successful candidate’s working
time will be during these periods.


Educational/professional qualifications and experience:

possess a relevant third level qualification eg agriculture or rural
development.
training & mentoring experience desirable but not essential
Comprehensive induction training will be provided to the successful candidate.
Car with full clean driving license is required and travel expenses are paid per mile. Other expenses necessarily incurred are reimbursed.
Remuneration: Not disclosed. The role is likely to suit an individual planning to get established in their career through an interesting and challenging role.
