Dairy Farmer welcomes milking robots Willie Keane from Lixnaw in Kerry is so pleased with his milking robots that he is holding an open day to show how his lifestyle has changed. He farms approximately 60 hectares and milks 110 cows.

"What I am most satisfied about is the effect the robots have had on milk quality and animal health. Since we installed the equipment the cows have averaged between 2.2 to 2.7 milkings per day and we seldom collect any cows. Each cow is monitored per quarter, the TBC (total bacteria count) is very low and cell count is 57K," he said.
The open day takes place on Wednesday 11th April, 1 km north of Lixnaw. Contact Lely Centre in Killorglin for further information 023 8855400 or Donagh Crowley on 086773983.
