Carnew Show relights the fire with a very enthusiastic AGM

The outgoing committee reported a year of disappointment with no show while also noting there was much work had to be done in the background to organise the running of qualifiers with other shows. A hugh word of thanks was expressed to all the local shows who hosted these qualifiers on behalf of Carnew Show.

The AGM was chaired by Mr Luke Byrne who noted he had been a committee member for over 61 years. Luke expressed his wish to step down from the committee, the show committee were delighted to appoint him as Honary Member of Carnew Show and thanked Luke for all his guidance and wisdom.

The committee elected for the coming year is as follows

President : Jimmy Sheridan

Vice President : John Doran

Chairperson : Karl Stephens

Secretary : Nowelle Keogh

Treasurer : Maurice Wafer

PRO : Eric Driver



The committee wish those elected well in their positions and words of support were passed around the room. The committee also wished to thank Pearl Massey who stepped down as Treasurer after many years of sterling service.

The chairman was delighted to inform the meeting of some new branches for the show to include a Poultry, Macra na Feirme, Horses and Pigs sections.

The show committee will host a Table Quiz on Fri 3rd February 2017 in Kennys Pint Depot, Carnew to raise much need funds to ensure the security of this year’s show. The committee would like to stress to those near and far that this is a rural show run to show case all that is good about Carnew and the surrounds. Please make every effort to support this event and please spread the word.

The meeting closed with a vote of thanks been passed to the Stephens & Kinsella families for the use of their lands to host the show.



Next meeting to held in January, new members always welcome.
