In this particular case, it would probably result from the incineration of plastics along Okinawa\u2019s shores, which would then have attached to the <strong>corals<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Although the identified examples have all been found on the coasts, the authors of the study, published in the journal <em>Marine Pollution Bulletin<\/em>, remind that fragments of coral formations, carried by waves, typically end up in the oceans, where they support the local ecosystem by enabling the development of new corals or by providing shelter for fry.<\/p>\n<section class=\"incontent-related\"><span class=\"incontent-related__title\">Read also<\/span> <span class=\"incontent-related__desc\">In France, the mass uprooting of hedges has profoundly changed the way rain penetrates soils<\/span><\/section>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"730\" height=\"487\" src=\"https:\/\/www.farmersforum.ie\/trends\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/1791735890_105_Plasticorals-Found-on-a-Japanese-Beach-Are-Everywhere.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1016862\"  ><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Des pr\u00e9c\u00e9dents<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Among earlier examples of plastiglomerates, in 2023 researchers from the Federal University of Paran\u00e1 had discovered &#8220;plastic rocks&#8221; linked to volcanic activity on a remote Brazilian island. Analyses later revealed the presence of high-density polyethylene, indicating these pollutants probably originated from fishing nets that had washed ashore.<\/p>\n<p>That same year, various types of plastiglomerates were discovered on an island in the Java Sea.
