Rather than lateral eyes that would offer a panoramic view of its surroundings, it features two enormous forward-facing eyes on the front of its face.<\/p>\n<section class=\"incontent-related\"><span class=\"incontent-related__title\">Read also<\/span> <span class=\"incontent-related__desc\">Ten million years ago, this giant piranha had a bite stronger than that of a great white shark<\/span><\/section>\n<p>This \u201c<em>alternative configuration<\/em>\u201d would allow it to detect tiny levels of sunlight and bioluminescence in this part of the <strong>ocean<\/strong> too dark to sustain photosynthesis.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-9-16 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"cssc-content-video-wrapper\"><iframe title=\"First-Ever Footage Of Winteria Telescopa In The Wild, A Barreleye Fish With A See-Through Head\" width=\"563\" height=\"1000\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/8IWrNVRKdBU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
