Tullow mart report Friday 22^nd September 2017.

 

First of the Autumn type sales in Tullow with a very large sale of over 450 head of cattle on offer. Trade remained steady and strong against a larger sale with a very active demand for the forward type bullocks anywhere from €2 per kg for the more plainer type LM and AA with the more quality type R and U grade CH and LM bullocks selling up to €950 and €1000 with the kg. 1 LM bk 660kg making €1590 670kg making €1640. 4 LM 570kg making €1400.

 

The lighter store bullocks equally active in demand for both farmer and feeder customers with trade very lively resembling €1.85 for the HE and AA up to €2.45 and €2.50 per kg for the better shapely CH and LM with the majority of those store bullocks selling anything from €2.10 to €2.30 per kg.

 

Very active trade for beef and forward type heifers very active demand for the butcher trade with the prices resembling from €700 up to €920 with the kg with the majority selling from €800 to €900 with the kg while the forward store heifers very active from €2.10 to €2.35 per kg while up to €2.50 given for some of the exceptional U grade types while the majority of those lighter store heifers the AA and HE selling from €1.90 to up to €2.25 for CH and LM types with some U grades pushing up to the €2.60 per kg .

 

Very lively trade for the heavier type cows beef in demand with those heavy cows selling up to €850 with the kg while the FR types selling from a base of €100 with the kg for the feeding FR with the majority of those lighter continental cows selling from up to €450 with the kg .

 

Special entry of starred heifers suitable for breeding selling to a very active trade. 1 BB heifer 555kg €1450 620kg making €1490 475kg making €1280 430kg making €1120 545kg making €1330 so a very active trade for those starred quality type heifers suitable for breeding replacements.
