MARKETHILL LIVESTOCK SHEEP SALE REPORT 15-04-21
An entry of 1550 sheep at Markethill on Wednesday 14 th April maintained a very firm trade for all
classes of stock.
The 535 Fat Hoggets sold in an excellent trade with good quality heavy hoggets selling steadily from
570p to 628p per kilo for 25kilos @ £157 each from a Dungannon farmer followed by 624p per kilo
for 25kilos @ £156 each from a Glenanne producer. Several pens made from £150 to £157 each and
the entire entry of 230 Heavy hoggets averaged 27kilos @ £152 per head 560p per kilo.
Good quality middleweight hoggets sold steadily from 580p to 671p per kilo for 21kilos @ £141 each
followed by 652p per kilo for 23.6kilos @ £154 each from a Belleeks producer. Horned hoggets sold
to a top of 609p per kilo for 21.5kilos @ £135 each and for 11 hoggets 21.5kilos @ £131 each from a
Tandragee farmer and for 43 hoggets 23kilos @ £140 each for a Portadown producer.
The 280 Spring Lambs returned a very firm trade with good quality light spring lambs selling to 728p
per kilo for 6 lambs 20kilos @ £145.50 from a Markethill farmer followed by 715p per kilo for 3
lambs 20kilos @ £143 each from an Armagh producer. Main demand for good quality light springs
sold from 670p to 714p per kilo.
Heavy Spring lambs sold to a top off £158 each with several pens from £152 to £157 each. Top price
of 654p per kilo for 24kilos @ £157 each followed by 650p per kilo for 24kilos @ £156 each.
A very large entry of 360 Fat Ewes sold to a top of £176 each. All good quality heavy ewes sold from
£120 to £166 each. Second quality ewes from £80 to £110 each.
In the Breeding ring a full yard of Ewes & Lambs sold in the firmest demand of the season with good
quality doubles selling to £355 each with several good turnouts from £300 to £335 each. Good
quality singles sold to £245 each with main trade for good quality singles from £180 to £225 each.
