MARKETHILL LIVESTOCK SHEEP SALE REPORT 08-04-21
An entry of 1150 sheep in Markethill on Wednesday 7 th April sold in probably the best ever trade for
fat hoggets and Spring Lambs.
The 400 hoggets sold in exceptionally strong demand with good quality heavy hoggets reaching £161
each for 28kilos with the entire entry of 312 heavy hoggets averaging 25.5kilos @£149 each. All
good quality pens of heavy hoggets from 570p to 620p per kilo for 24.5kilos @ £152 each, followed
by 612p per kilo for 24.5kilos @ £150 each.
Good quality middleweight hoggets sold from 570p to 682p per kilo for 22kilos @ £150 each,
followed by 643p per kilo for 23.5kilos @ £151 each.
The 310 Spring Lambs sold to a top of 715p per kilo for 20kilos @ £143 each, followed by 711p per
kilo for 20.4kilos @ £145 each. All good quality pens from 650p to 695p per kilo.
The 300 Cull Ewes sold to a top of £174 each. All fleshed ewes from £130 to £167 each. Plainer ewes
from £80 to £110 each.
In the Breeding Ring Ewes & Lambs sold in a noticeably firmer trade. Doubles sold to £325, £310 &
£305 each. Singles sold to £270, £265, £250 & £240 each.
