MARKETHILL LIVESTOCK CATTLE SALE REPORT 27 TH JUNE 2020
An entry of 700 cattle at Markethill on Saturday 27 th June continued to sell in an exceptionally strong
demand with beef cattle in particularly selling the best ever trade.
HEIFERS
170 heifers included a large number of forward and beef heifers. Good quality beef heifers sold
steadily from £200 to £235 per 100 kilos for 606k Lim at £1425 from a Newry farmer followed by
£234 per 100 kilos for 618k R Lim at £1445 for a Dungannon farmer. Top price heifer £1555 for 700k
Char at £222 for a Poyntzpass farmer followed by £1485 paid for a 650k Char £228 from a Banbridge
farmer and for 650k Char £228 for a Dungannon producer. Forward store heifers £231 for 510k Lim
at £1180 for a Newtownhamilton farmer. Main demand for good quality forward heifers from £200
to £230 per 100 kilos. Good quality middleweight heifers steadily from £200 to £237 per 100 kilos
for 428k Char at £1015 from a Keady farmer followed by £236 per 100 kilos for 426k Char at £1005
from a Portadown producer.

180 bullocks included a large number of heavy beef bullocks which sold in probably the best ever
trade to a top of £1775 for 778k Char at £230 per 100 kilos from a Dromara farmer followed by
£1735 for 750k £231 from a Dromara farmer. Several heavy bullocks sold from £1650 to £1730
each. Top rate £238 per 100 kilos for 682k £1625 from a Dromara farmer. The same owner received
£236 per 100 kilos for 680k Char at £1605. Main demand for good quality beef heifers from £210 to
£230 per 100 kilos. Forward store bullocks sold to £233 per 100 kilos for 600k at £1395 from a
Newry farmer followed by £231 per 100 kilos for 622k at £1435 from a Banbridge farmer. Main
demand from £200 to £225 per 100 kilos. Good quality middleweight bullocks from £200 to £231
per 100 kilos for 366k at £845 followed by £223 per 100 kilos for 440k Char at £985 from a
Portadown producer.

for an Armagh farmer. All good quality light males from £230 to £278 per 100 kilos. Stronger males
from £200 to £250 per 100 kilos for 408k Char at £1020 from an Armagh farmer and up to £1040 for
458k Char at £227 from an Armagh farmer. Good quality heifer weanlings sold steadily from £220 to
£291 per 100 kilos for 258k Lim £750 from a Portadown farmer followed by £273 per 100 kilos for
302k Lim at £825 from a Portadown farmer. Top price for a heifer weanling £860 for a 346k Char
£249 for an Armagh farmer.
