MARKETHILL LIVESTOCK CATTLE SALE REPORT 20 TH JUNE 2020
An increased entry of 650 cattle a Markethill on Saturday 20 th June sold in an extremely strong
demand for all classes of stock. Highlight of the sale was the prices for beef cattle and for suckler
outfits.
SUCKLERS
In the suckler ring over 60 lots of cows and calves sold in an exceptionally good trade with a special
entry from a Cullyhanna farmer selling to a top of £2850 for a Lim heifer plus heifer calf at foot. The
same owner sold other outfits at £2550, £2500 twice and £2400 with his entire entry of outfits
averaging £2370 each. A Keady producer sold BB cow with bull calf at £2500. The same owner
received £2150, £2000 and £1780 for other turnouts. An Armagh producer received £2000 for a Lim
cow and bull calf.
HEIFERS
170 heifers returned an excellent demand. Beef heifers selling to £228 per 100 kilos 600k at £1365
from an Armagh farmer followed by £226 per 100 kilos for 630k at £1425 from a Newtownhamilton
producer. Main demand for good quality beef heifers from £200 to £225 per 100 kilos. Forward
store heifers sold from £200 to £225 per 100 kilos for 580k BB at £1305 for a Portadown farmer
followed by £221 per 100 kilos for 570k Char £1275 for an Armagh farmer. Good quality
middleweights sold from £200 to £230 per 100 kilos for 472k Char at £1085 for a Poyntzpass
producer.

220 bullocks sold in a very firm demand especially for beef bullocks which sold to a top of £1705 for
a 770k Lim £220 from a Cullyhanna farmer. The same owner sold several more bullocks from £1550
to £1685 for a 724k Lim at £233. Top price for forward store bullocks £241 per 100 kilos for 608k AA
at £1465 from a Cullyhanna farmer followed by £233 per 100 kilos for 520k Char at £1215 from an
Ardglass farmer. Middleweight bullocks sold from £200 to £236 for 396k Char at £935 from an

Armagh producer followed by £234 per 100 kilos for 486k Lim at £1135 from an Armagh producer.
Good quality Friesian bullocks sold from £150 to £183 for 556k at £1015 for a Moy farmer.

for 270k Char at £770 for a Dungannon farmer followed by £270 per 100 kilos for 300k Lim at £810
for a Dungannon farmer. Stronger male weanlings sold from £210 per £250 for 406k Char at £1015
from a Keady farmer. The same owner received £242 per 100 kilos for 424k Char at £1025. Heifer
weanlings sold to a top of £1330 for 470k blonde £283 from a Castlewellan farmer. Main demand
for good quality heifers from £220 to £284 per 100 kilos for 334k at £950 from a Hilltown producer
followed by £263 per 100 kilos for 320k Lim at £840 from a Newtownhamilton farmer.
