MARKETHILL LIVESTOCK CATTLE SALE REPORT 13 TH OCTOBER 2020
Dairy stock sold to a top of £1550 at Markethill on Tuesday 13 th October for a calved heifer from a
Portadown farmer. The same owner received £1440 and £1340 for calved cows. An entry of maiden
heifers from a Portadown farmer sold to a top of £1020, £1000, £940. An Aghalee farmer sold an
entry of Norwegian Red maiden to a top of £940 with fkv cross maiden heifers from the same owner
selling to a top of £800. Several more from £700 to £750 each.
Cull cows
160 cull cows sold in a steady demand. Good quality beef bred cows from £140 to £169 for 676k at
£1145 from a Dungannon farmer and for 690k BB at £1175 from a Middletown producer. Fleshed
Friesian cows sold from £114 to £123 for 680k at £840 and up to £905 for 760k £119 for a
Waringstown farmer. Second quality Friesian cows from £90 to £105 and the poorest types from
£70 to £85 per 100 kilos.

130 calves sold in an exceptionall strong demand with good quality bull calves to a top of £440 for a
5 week old Char followed by £410 for a 4 week old AA. Main demand from £250 to £350 each.
Good quality heifer calves under 6 weeks sold to £440 for a blue followed by £390 for a Lim. All
good quality heifers from £240 to £360 each.
