Balla Mart Report....
The special bullock sale was held in Balla with over 800 head on offer…there was
great buying for cattle with more farmer and northern buyers around. Heavy
bullocks and heifers were up by 10/20c p/kg on last week. Bullocks 300kg to
400kg averaged 2.43p/kg. Store bullocks 400kg to 500kg averaged 2.44
p/kg...While heavier bullocks 500kg + were well up and averaged 2.46 p/kg.
Heavy bullocks 700kg+ were still making EXCELLENT prices over the E1100/1200
with the weight. A farmer from Clogher – Claremorris had a heavy bullock
weighing 800kg born May ‘19 that made E2,090.00 or 2.61p/kg.
There was 300 heifers this week. Heifers up to 400 kg averaged 2.43 Euro p/kg.
Heifers 400kg to 500kg averaged E2.44p/kg. While 500kg+ averaged 2.47p/kg.
There was a 585kg limx that made E1,900.00 or 3.25p/kg sold by a farmer from
Kilconly – Tuam.
The third ring was in operation for the cows this Saturday with just over 130 lots
on offer. Dry cow prices were up due to different Northern Ireland and Factory
buyers. A 940kg LMX dry cow Jan ’14 born made E2,240.00 sold by a farmer from
Belcarra - Castlebar. In the springers the best an Sept ’07 cow with its lim heifer
calf at foot that made E2,070.00 sold by a Ballyhaunis farmer. There was no
weanling this Saturday the Tuesday weanling sales starting on the 7 th of
September. There will be a sale next Saturday and the following Saturday the 18 th
will be Annual Special Sale of Heifers with booking as usual from 09:30 am to
01:00pm on 0818 301 401….
While Weanlings will be booked on Thursday 9th between 09:30am to 01:00pm
for the Weanling Sale on Tuesday the 14 th of September..
