Tanzania benefits from Irish Farming background Before returning to Tanzania as Oxfam�s country director, Ms Monica Gorman had worked in Kilosa district for six years with Irish Aid giving a helping hand to the organization�s work of supporting local farmers.
To her, Tanzania was a second home, and as such, serving its people is something she cherishes highly.
She told Insight in a recent interview that studying agriculture at university had greatly influenced her interest in feeding people, especially the needy. The passion to support farming and help to feed people also had roots in her upbringing since she grew up in a rural setup in Ireland.

�I love agriculture while at the same time it makes me feel happy when everybody gets enough food,� said Ms Gorman, whose current duties as Oxfam�s country director accords her the opportunity to do what she likes most - serving those in need.

�I come from a farming background in rural Ireland and I studied Agricultural Science and Rural Development at university,� she added, noting that growing up in a farming environment has contributed a lot in developing her interest to work with organizations that support and promote agriculture
