Options for controlling rabbits include:
Shooting, usually (but not exclusively) at night with a moderated (silenced) .22lr, .17HMR or air rifle. Shotguns are also used at night but present problems such as rabbits quickly becoming used to the noise and going underground at the first few shots, some shoot shotguns from quads or jeeps at night, I wouldn't be a fan of the practice (believe it's illegal to shoot from a vehicle in any instance in Ireland).
Ferreting, netting the exits of the burrows with purse nets and letting ferrets into the burrows, also shotguns and dogs are often used above ground in this practice.
Snaring.
Use of fenn/bodygrip/other traps.
Control using dogs i.e. lurchers.
Using drop nets or long nets.
Probably the most expensive option would be to erect a rabbit proof fence, allow a number of entry points which are trapped using rabbit drop boxes.
I've probably forgotten one or two other options.
